The Cecafa senior challenge will not be held in Jinja and Njeru from this coming Saturday as earlier communicated. Fufa had confirmed the venues but on Wednesday, the local organizing committee, through Fufa, changed the confirmed venue to Kampala.

Initially, the championship was to be hosted Fufa Technical Centre in Njeru and the Kyabazinga stadium in Bugembe, Jinja. “CECAFA U17 Girls’ tournament will be held at FUFA Techncial Centre 9th to 18th December 2019. CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup in Kampala at the StarTimes Stadium, Lugogo 7th to 19th December 2019,” confirmed FUFA Communication manager Ahmed Hussein.

14-time record champions and host Uganda, who are placed in group A were to start their campaign on Saturday against four-time champions Ethiopia who withdrew from the competition due to financial reasons. They became the second side after Rwanda to withdraw.

Uganda will now open with Burundi on the opening day after Djibouti plays Somalia. Djibouti was the first country to arrive on Tuesday.

Azam TV will broadcast the games live. Meanwhile, the under-17 girls’ tournament will be played concurrently at the FUFA technical center, Njeru at free entrance.
