KCCA FC will be without winger Julius Poloto when they Messanger Ngozi on Saturday at the CECAFA Kagame Cup.

Poloto who captained the side in the 1-0 victory over KMKM on Thursday, got injured late in the game.

KCCA have option that can slot in for the Uganda Kobs international with new signing Yassar Mugerwa among the players waiting for the chance to be slotted in.

After collecting three points from their opening two group B games, the Kasasiro Boys must defeated the Burundi champions to ensure safe passage to the semi finals of the competition.

The Kasasiros find themselves in this situation because of their opening loss to Azam FC.

In what was their first game of Group B, Morley Byekwaso’s side lost 2-0 and it is a scoreline that could prove costly in the end.

However, Byekwaso is optimistic his side can pick the required result.

“I would first of all like to thank the players for ensuring we won our first game. However, the tournament still has more games and we need to continue working hard so as to full-fill our targets. Byekwaso said ahead of the game.

“Tomorrow’s (Saturday) game will not be an easy game because our group, just like group A, it is still complicated as all the bottom three teams can still go through.

“So all we need it to win the game because a loss will see us bow out and a draw may not be good enough. The games are packed and there is a small period of time to recover but it does not affect only us.”

For Ngozi, only victory can see then into the semi finals as they start two points behind second-placed KCCA.

The Burundi champions drew 1-1 with KMKM in their opening game before losing 1-0 to Azam on Thursday.

KCCA have won the Kagame Cup twice with the first time coming in 1978.

They won the last edition which was held in Rwanda in 2019.
