Tanzania will face Kenya in the final of the 2019 CECAFA U20 Boys Challenge Cup this Saturday at the FUFA technical center, Njeru.

This followed the completion of the two semi-final matches in Gulu and Njeru on Wednesday evening.

At the Pece War Memorial Stadium in Gulu, Tanzania overcame Sudan 2-1 with Israel Patrick Mwenda and John Pius Kelvin scoring for Tanzania in the first half before Mohamed Abbas Namir pulled a goal back for Sudan at the start of the second half.

In the second semi-final, Kenya overcame Eritrea 1-0 at the FUFA Technical Centre, Njeru courtesy of defender Yoseif Mebrahtu own goal.

The change of venue for the final from Gulu that hosted the opening matches to Njeru was confirmed by CECAFA Secretary General Nicholas Musonye during a press conference in Gulu.

“We thank the people of Gulu, the Government, media and FUFA led by Eng. Moses Magogo for the time well spent in Gulu. We shall have the final and third place play-off match at the FUFA Technical Centre in Njeru on Saturday. The tournament has been so good,” Musonye noted.

After the two semi-finals on Wednesday, there are so far 85 goals scored in 21 matches with only one red card. Hosts Uganda were stopped by Tanzania at the quarter final after a 4-2 loss.

was the last to win the championship in 2010 when it was last held in Eretria before its revival this year.
