Cricket Cranes, Uganda men’s national cricket team are now in good position for a strong finish at the ICC Cricket World Cup Challenge League B tournament after they returned to the top of the table following an easy victory over Bermuda on Monday at Lugogo Cricket Oval in Kampala.

After two straight losses against Jersey and Hong Kong, Uganda got off the mark in style by beating Bermuda by eight wickets to give the home side a huge sigh of relief ahead of the two final matches against Italy (Friday at Kyambogo) and Kenya (Sunday at Lugogo).

Uganda posted 99 runs for two wickets in 17/50 overs against Bermuda’s 95/all out in 28 overs.

Uganda are leading the table with 12 points, just one ahead of Hong Kong who are in action on Thursday (against Bermuda) and Friday (against Jersey).

A slip for Hong Kong in the above matches means that Uganda will still have a chance to finish strong in the competition.

Meanwhile, on Monday, batsman Simon Ssesazi hit 53 runs including nine boundaries as Uganda eased past Bermuda in a game they bowled first.

However, the tournament is a pathway to the 2023 ICC Cricket World Cup in India but most importantly a voyage that could end with Uganda securing the much-vaunted One-Day International (ODI) status.
