Uganda Premier League side KCCA FC have confirmed the return of forward Charles Lwanga, with the striker signing a two-year contract to begin a second spell at the Lugogo-based club.
Popularly known as “Neymar”, Lwanga rejoins the Kasasiro Boys after spending the last three years at SC Villa, where he further established himself as one of the Uganda Premier League’s most dangerous attacking players.
The 26-year-old first joined KCCA FC from SC Villa in 2020 after making a name for himself with Villa’s junior side, where he scored 33 goals and registered 21 assists in 35 matches. He also contributed three goals and three assists in 19 senior appearances before making the move to Lugogo.
During his first stint at KCCA FC, Lwanga quickly became a key player, finishing as the club’s top scorer in his debut season with 12 goals across all competitions.
Speaking after completing his return, Lwanga said he is determined to make the most of his second opportunity at the club and help KCCA FC compete for major honours.
”I am happy to be back, and I want to rewrite my story here. I am eager to work with the players and coaches at the club. They are top-quality players here, so I expect the competition levels to be high, and I am hopeful I can achieve a lot of success with this club,” he said.
Head coach Brian Ssenyondo welcomed the forward back to the club, describing him as a player whose qualities will strengthen KCCA FC’s attacking options.
”Lwanga possesses a combination of raw pace and a proven goalscoring instinct in this league. We know exactly how we want to deploy his strengths to make our frontline more lethal. He understands the culture of this club, and his hunger to achieve big things aligns perfectly with our vision for the season,” Ssenyondo said.
Lwanga’s return comes as KCCA FC continue to strengthen their squad ahead of the new campaign, with the club already confirming several contract renewals and new signings during the current transfer window.
