Uganda Baati National Hockey League
Sunday Results
Makerere 5-1 Rockets
Weatherhead 5-0 City Lions (W/O)
Wanachi 2-1 Kampala
Not good news but real! City Lions boycotted their Uganda Baati National Hockey League fixture against Weatherhead Club over the weekend.
City Lions demand that Uganda Hockey Association (UHA) responds to their petition over alleged inconsistencies.
Earlier on, a section of clubs petitioned against UHA to National Council of Sports (NCS) and Uganda Olympic Committee (UOC) over UHA failure to present audited accounts for over two years, flopped national team trips to Algiers and South Africa, awarding 2018 league winners, maintenance of the hockey pitch and general accountability for the money used for hiring out the hockey stadium.
The demand for the above brought the league to a standstill only for it to resume two weeks ago after the association and aggrieved clubs appeared to have moved on.
City Lions, however, are still hesitant that they will not return to the turf unless UHA responds to the petition.
“Until they solve matters concerning the contents of the petition, we will not play” noted City Lions’ player and founder Muhammad Ali.
Some club however, resumed playing and the boycotting sides are likely to lose by forfeiture.
