City Oilers vs Sharing Youth

JKL Dolphins on Wednesday condemned six-time straight league champions City Oilers to their third straight loss of the season in the Tusker Lite National Basketball League (NBL) after a 66-67 defeat at the YMCA Court.

JKL started on the high with a 9-point lead before winning the opening quarter 13-21 and the second quarter 13-06. Oilers tried to bridge the gap in the third quarter but still lost 16-17 before winning the final quarter 24-13.

It was Oilers’ third straight loss in the league after previously falling to UCU Canons and Warriors respectively.

It was also JKL’s maiden win against Oilers and their fourth in the league after six games.

JKL also beat Betway Power a few weeks back. Kenyan national Brian Tune Muramaba was named the Man of the match after leading the fall of his former side with 15-high points, nine rebounds and three assists.

“It feels good to beat Oilers and win was down to team effort and good preparation,” noted Muramaba, who played to prove a point to the former pay masters.

It was Muramaba’s debut night with JKL after his clearance to play was delayed. Josh Johnson and Landry Ndikumana had 11 points apiece as Oilers top scorers but could not save the reigning champions. Oilers will seek to bounce back when they play Sharing Youth this Saturday.

Meanwhile, YMCA Lady Hamsters continued with their fine run in the campaign after coming from down to beat Makerere Sparks 57-64 on Wednesday. YMCA’s Bridget Aber was named player of the match after returning 10 points, 23 rebounds and one assist.
