CORONA VIRUS: FUFA RESPONDS TO GOVERNMENT’S CALL, DONATES FOOD IN FIGHT AGAINST COVID-19

Federation of Uganda Football Association (FUFA) has responded to the call of the Government of republic of Uganda by donating Food.

On Thursday 16th, April FUFA handed over 12.5 tones of Rice to Honorable Mary Karoro Okurut the Minister in charge of General Duties in the office of the Prime Minister.

While handing over the donation, FUFA President, Engineer Moses Magogo said

“As our motor FUFA Its our game its our Country we find responsibility to respond to the call of His excellence the president of tge republic of Uganda such that we are able to contribute to the call” said Magogo.

“As FUFA we have decided with in our meager resources to be able to provide 12.5 tones of Rice to the people of Uganda who are our fans, who are our players” Added Magogo.

The Football parent body has also donated food to football players to help them in this stay home saty safe period.

“We have also asked permission o ne able to distribute food to our football players who are scattered in the whole country and thanks we have been given way forward” Added Magogo.

FUFA will only provide food to 1st (Uganda Premier League) and 2nd (FUFA Big League) division players here Magogo said.

“We would have loved to extend even those playing in the lower leagues but that is where our ability is at the moment”

In presence was the Sports minister Hon. Hamson Obua who saluted FUFA for rising the donation.

“I salute FUFA through their humble donation of Rice to the National task force of COVID-19″ Said Hon. Hamson Obua.

” We are optimistic that as the country in response to the call of His excellence the sports sub sector although it has been greatly affected together with tourism through FUFA we are able to make this humble donation” Pointed Honorable Minister for Sports.

Uganda confirmed her first Corona Virus case on 21st, March 2020 and as of Wednesday 15th, April Uganda has 55 cases with 12 people recovered.

On Tuesday 14th, April President Yoweri Kaguta Museven extended lock down for 21 days which is expected to end on 5th, May.
