COVID-19: Eastern Region FA Initiates Plan To Help 3rd Division Players With Food

An obvious result of the global COVID-19 Pandemic is the financial disruption it will have across the world, and majorly the sports sector.
On Friday last week Federation of Uganda Football Association (FUFA) kicked started ths supply of food to football players but only to first and second division players.
This left a big gap as lower leagues players were unable to benefit from the donation. FUFA President Engineer Moses Magogo explained how that was the best they could manage by then meaning regional Associations.
Eastern Region Football Association has initiated a plan to help their players go past this COVID-19 Pandemic period by providing them with food.
We have started gathering donations from Stakeholders and sports well wishers to see that we help players overcome this Pandemic period.
“When FUFA communicated about giving food to first and second division players it was a wake up call to us as Regional Football Association on how we can help the lower leafue Players and we had to sit down, draft how far can we reach” Stated Issa Mussiwa, the Chairman Eastern Region Football Association.
“I appreciate those who have already reacted to our call positively but my appeal also goes to all football stakeholders and well wishers to come in and contribute to the social being of players” Added Musiwa.
Eastern Region Football Association is comprised of two groups that is Nile and Bukedi group and here the Chairman said they will start with Bukedi group and later on finish up with Nile.
According to the plan, their target is get 5 tones of Posho and 2 tones of beans which is expected to be given out before the end of this week.
Bukedi group has 11 clubs competing in the current season and over 300 players will be benefit from this initiative.
“Most of our players depend on match allowances from their clubs and by this time when there are no games we need to support them this will keep us united” Said  Admin Football Club President Engineer Henry Owori Eldadi contributed one million Uganda shillings.

Leader in Bukedi group battle the winner of Nile group in a single tie match played on neutral ground to get the Eastern Regional League champions.
Eastern Regional League champions take on North East Region winner on home and away.
The overall winner of tge double setter gains promotion to the second tier, the FUFA Big League.
