COSAFA Girls U17 Championship

September 20-29

Group A Fixtures:

20th Sept – Uganda – Zambia

22nd Sept – Uganda – Mauritius

24th Sept – Comoros – Uganda

The Uganda U-17 Girls officially kicked off preparations for COSAFA U17 Championship with a single training session on Sunday evening at the FUFA Technical Centre, Njeru. Thirty (30) players attended the training that was conducted by the head coach Ayub Khalifa and his assistant Hadijah Namuyanja.

The squad will be reduced to 20 players that will travel to Mauritius on 18th September for the tournament due September 20-29 in Port Luis. “All the players we summoned did show up on the first day and we expect hard work from all the players so as we select the best,” he noted.

The team had double training sessions on Monday and according to the camp program, there will be two build-up matches this Wednesday and Sunday. The team is expected to have 10 camping days before flying to Mauritius for the Championship.

Uganda is in group A and will play the first game on 20th September with Zambia, then face Mauritius two days later and end the group action with a tie against Comoros.

GOALKEEPERS: Nyayenga Daphine (Uganda Martyrs), Namusisi Joan (Mukono High), Nasasira Gift (Gadafi Integrated) and Kamuli Cecila (King of Kings).

DEFENDERS: Akalinda Gilian (Olila High School), Kabarwani Cissy (King of Kings), Nangozi Maureen (Mukono High School), Lwetuso Regina (Taggy High School), Abba Immaculate (Gadafi Integrated), Atwiine Precious (Upper Hill College), and Shamirah Boonabaana.

MIDFIELDERS: Nakacwa Kevin (Uganda Martrys), Nakacwa Samali (Kawempe Muslim SS), Nyinagahirwa Shakira (Kawempe Muslim SS), Kunuhira Margret (Kawempe Muslim SS), Nyakato Ruth (King of Kings), Babirye Sarah (Kayindu SS), Abiyo Racheal (Olila High School), and Komuntale Sumayah (King of Kings) Kyomuhendo Sumayah (Kawempe Muslim).

FORWARDS: Nalukenge Juliet (Kawempe Muslim SS), Najjemba Fauzia (Mukono High), Nakiyingi Sophie (Gadafi Integrated), Nagadya Catherine (Katuuso Community SS), Nandede Zainah (Amus College), Namaganda Zaitun (Taggy High School), Nadunga Bira (Olila High School), Nandago Hadijah (Kawempe Muslim SS), Chandia Lillian (Alele SS) and Adokole Esther (Amus College).
