Crested Cranes look to finish the job against Ethiopia in WAFCON 2026 Qualifiers

The Uganda Women’s Senior Team, the Crested Cranes, will take on Ethiopia’s Lucy in the second leg of the TotalEnergies Women Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) 2026 Qualifiers on Wednesday, February 26, at Abebe Bikila Stadium in Addis Ababa.

Uganda heads into the match with a strong advantage, having secured a 2-0 victory in the first leg at Hamz Stadium, Nakivubo, thanks to late goals from Zaina Namuleme and Fazila Ikwaput.

Head coach Sheryl Botes has named a 20-player squad for the decisive encounter as the team aims to secure a place in the next qualification round.

The team arrived safely in Ethiopia and conducted training ahead of the return leg.

The winner on aggregate will face either Tanzania or Equatorial Guinea in the second and final qualification round.

The Squad:

Goalkeepers: Nakaziro Daisy, Nakiirya Lillian

Defenders: Nantongo Aisha, Nabulime Phionah, Nandede Zainah, Namusoke Esther, Namande Margret, Kobusinge Jolly, Komuntale Sumaya

Midfielders: Nabirye Joan, Nabbumba Phiona, Najjuma Teddy, Nabukenya Agnes, Namuleme Zaina, Nambi Violah, Kobusobozi Resty, Auki Kigongo Angel

Forwards: Ikwaput Fazila, Nanziri Resty, Nakasi Latifah
