Uganda senior men’s national cricket team, Cricket Cranes continued their impressive run on their South African tour, securing a convincing 117-run victory over the Titans Invitational XI (Club II) at Centurion on Sunday, October 6.
This win further bolsters their confidence ahead of the ICC World Challenge League B, which is a stepping stone to the 2027 ICC Cricket World Cup.
Uganda, opting to bat first after winning the toss, posted a competitive total of 244 runs in 48.1 overs.
Robinson Obuya top-scored with 46 off 67 balls, hitting seven boundaries, while captain Riazat Ali Shah added a steady 41 off 48 deliveries.
Alpesh Ramjani provided a late push with a brisk 40 off 41 balls.
Despite these solid contributions, Uganda’s middle order failed to fully capitalize on the foundation, and the innings ended two overs short.
Titans’ M. Jackson shone with the ball, claiming 3 for 41, supported by Y. Mahlangu’s 2 for 27.
In reply, the Titans Invitational XI struggled to mount a challenge, succumbing to Uganda’s well-rounded bowling attack.
The hosts were bowled out for just 127 runs in 29.2 overs. Uganda’s spinners, led by Frank Nsubuga with 2 for 11 from six economical overs, stifled the opposition’s chase.
Joseph Baguma (2 for 18) and Alpesh Ramjani (2 for 32) were also instrumental in maintaining the pressure.
B. Snyman (28 off 19 balls) and T. Gouws (23 off 27 balls) were the only notable contributors for the Titans, but their efforts were insufficient to prevent a collapse.
This victory is Uganda’s third consecutive win on tour, boosting their momentum ahead of their upcoming matches in preparation for November’s World Challenge League B.
Next Match: Uganda will take on a yet-to-be-confirmed opponent on October 8 at Centurion.
