In the fourth encounter of Uganda’s tour of Sri Lanka, the Uganda men’s national cricket team, Cricket Cranes faced a formidable challenge against Sri Lanka Army, ultimately succumbing to a defeat by 5 wickets.
Cricket Cranes posted a total of 110 all out in 19.4 overs, with notable contributions from Dinesh Nakrani, who scored 32 runs off 28 balls, and Riazat Ali Shah, adding 21 runs off 23 deliveries. However, their efforts were countered by the impressive bowling display from the Sri Lanka Army, with Asela Gunarathne, Ssekkuge Prasama, and Gayan Chandrabose each claiming three wickets.
In response, Sri Lanka Army chased down the target with relative ease, reaching 116/5 in 17.2 overs. Thisara Perera top-scored with 40 runs off 35 balls, supported by Shehan Fernando’s 38 off 30 deliveries. Despite the efforts of Uganda XI’s bowlers, including Cosmas Kyewuta, Alpesh Ramjani, Henry Ssenyondo, Bilal Hassun, and Frank Nsubuga, who each claimed one wicket, Sri Lanka Army secured victory.
The result marks Uganda’s third defeat on the tour, with only one victory in four outings. The team is now gearing up for their final match against Sri Lanka Army on May 9th at 8:30 am, as they continue their preparations for the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.
