Arua Hill SC are virtually/nearly promoted to the Uganda Premier League following their goalless draw with Gadaffi FC in a crucial matchday 13 of the FUFA Big League at the Kyabazinga Stadium-Bugembe on Wednesday in Jinja.

In the season finale this Sunday, Arua Hill will play host to already relegated Paidha Black Angels and they head into the fixture leading the Elgon Group with 27 points, three ahead of second placed Gadaffi, with a superior 14-goal difference.

With such commanding statistics, Arua Hill are 99.9% qualified for the next season of the Uganda Premier League, the top tier football division in the land.

At the sound of the final whistle, Club Chairman Joel A’ita Jaffer joined players in celebration ahead of a likely promotion to Uganda Premier League and further revealed his delight in the development.

“I am very happy with this result, the boys did it the way we planned,” A’ita told the club website.

“We came when we’re having a point from our previous meeting, we didn’t have pressure when we’re playing, we had the advantage with goal difference so even if they had beaten us, we would still be ahead of them,”

“But our mindset was  of protecting our unbeaten run. Gaddafi is a good team that plays on the wings because their wingers are very good and talented so that’s why we didn’t rush. If we scored, it would have been a bonus,” A’ita added.

Prior to this soon winding down season, A’ita told media in September 2020 at a press briefing that; “we want to qualify for the First Division (Uganda Premier League); it can be this season or next season but major emphasis is to stabilize the club.”

Arua Hill could possibly achieve their main target of qualifying for the Uganda Premier League with the club’s other targets being stabilizing the team and setting up systems, working on international engagements and having some of its players sold to foreign teams among others.
