Over the weekend, Black Pearls emerged winners of the Uganda Rugby Union (URU) Womens Nationals held at Kyadondo Rugby Club in Kampala after defeating Avengers 24-12.

Back Pearls’ tries were ran in by Suzan Adong, Emilly Lekuru and Ritta Nadunga with conversions by Charlotte Mudoola.

Avengers tries were made by Peace Lekuru(2) and one conversion by Nassozi Maimuna.

Black Pearls skipper Charlotte Mudoola says that the girls enjoyed themselves over the weekend and claiming the title was an icing on the cake.

“It was a very amazing experience especially that we lost one of the matches to Avengers in the group stages. We really needed to put our heads together and focus on the main picture which was to win the final,” Mudoola told Uganda Rugby website adding that they played as a team.

Captain of Avengers RFC Peace Lekuru says that Black Pearls were very dominant in many aspects and they struggled to contain them.

“Black Pearls had good speed which my team didn’t have. They were heads up and knew what they wanted from the start. We are going back to the drawing board. I am still proud of my team for the job well done throughout the day,” Lekuru said.
