Ugandan football sensation Denis Omedi has made headlines yet again, this time earning a nomination for the prestigious CAF Goal of the Year award.

His audacious rabona strike for Kitara FC against KCCA FC in the FUFA Super 8 has captured the attention of football fans across the continent, cementing his status as one of Africa’s most exciting talents.

Omedi, who was recently nominated for FIFA’s Puskás Award, finds himself among an elite group of 11 nominees for the CAF award.

The shortlist, curated by a panel of CAF Technical Experts, features goals scored in CAF competitions between January and October 2024, showcasing the incredible skill and creativity of African players.

Fan Voting Open

Fans play a crucial role in determining the winner of the Goal of the Year award, with their votes accounting for 70% of the final tally. The remaining 30% is decided by CAF’s Technical Panel. Voting is now open on the CAF website and social media channels and will close on Thursday, December 12, 2024.

The winner will be unveiled during the CAF Awards Gala, scheduled for Monday, December 16, 2024, in Marrakech, Morocco. This event celebrates African football excellence, with the Goal of the Year category uniquely empowering fans to shape the outcome.

Omedi’s nomination is a significant milestone for Ugandan football, highlighting the growing impact of the nation’s players on the continental stage.
