Phase three of DNSS (Development of National Structures and Systems) was held over the weekend and was done online. The workshop involved club leaders (Chairpersons and General Secretaries).
Dubbed ‘Club Development and Management,’ 28 participants took part in the weekend workshop as Uganda Hockey seeks to build its capacity.
The event was graced by IOC (International Olympic Committee) member and UOC (Uganda Olympic Committee) President William Blick, National Council of Sports Chairman Donald Rukare and Uganda Hockey Chairperson Lydia Sanyu Dhamuzungu.
Expert trainers and facilitators Elisabeth Fuerst and Taimoor Waqar and Hassan took club leaders though the sessions.
For starters, DNSS project was granted to Uganda Hockey Association (UHA) by the Olympic Solidarity through the Uganda Olympic Committee to develop national structures and systems.
The first phase of the program was a Coaching and Umpiring course done online.
The second phase of the project involved training of local community members (mainly teachers) to take up coaching and umpiring of the sport. This is in line with UHA effort to build capacity, structures and also to spread the game to all the regions of the country.
