In an effort to support education for young Ugandans, Entebbe Club will be hosting a charity golf tournament titled “Swing for Education” this Saturday, June 22. The event is part of the MTN Monthly Tee series.
The initiative is a collaborative effort with Education for Rural and Remote Communities under MTN’s Yello Care program, underscoring MTN Uganda’s commitment to community development and educational support.
The Entebbe Club Excom, together with MTN Uganda, selected Airforce Primary School in Katabi as the beneficiary of their joint effort to give back to the community.
“The tournament aims to raise UGX 5 million in support of the school. Special arrangements include purchasing meal cards for 5,000 UGX, covering a half-way house snack and dinner, with drinks available at discounted rates,” said Serwano Walusimbi, the club captain, adding, “We will have a full course and a successful event.”
Themed “Back to School Edition,” participants will dress in school uniforms both on the course and at the 19th hole for this unique tournament, competing in a medal full handicap format.
“This event not only celebrates MTN Group’s 30th anniversary but also extends our flagship volunteerism program, 21 Days of Y’ello Care, to 30 Days of Y’ello Care,” stated Martin Sebuliba, Senior Brand Manager – Brand and Communications at MTN Uganda. “The theme ‘Learn Today, Lead Tomorrow’ guides our efforts to bridge educational gaps in underserved communities across our operational footprint.”
The culmination of the event will include a donation ceremony led by the Head boy (Chairman) of the club, Eng. Jacob Byamukama.
For golf enthusiasts and supporters of education alike, the “Swing for Education” tournament promises to blend sportsmanship with social impact, marking a significant milestone in MTN Uganda’s ongoing efforts to empower local communities through education.
