Kawempe Muslim SS emerged victorious in the 2024 Fresh Dairy Girls’ Football Championship, defeating Rines SS 5-4 in a thrilling penalty shootout after a goalless draw in regular time. The packed stadium in Ndejje witnessed an intense battle as both teams fought vigorously for the title. Despite numerous chances, neither side could break the deadlock, leading to a decisive penalty shootout.
Kawempe’s goalkeeper, Haira Nabbosa, became the hero of the day with two crucial saves in the shootout, securing the championship for her team. This victory marks Kawempe Muslim SS’s second USSSA trophy this year, following their win at the Elite Games in Jinja in January.
Rines SS, under the leadership of head coach Bright Nyanzi, made their first appearance in the Fresh Dairy Girls’ Football final. Despite the loss, their silver medal finish is a significant achievement, adding to their consistent top-three performances in recent championships.
With the conclusion of the 2024 Fresh Dairy Girls’ Football edition, Kawempe Muslim SS will represent Uganda as gold medalists, with Rines SS securing silver, Amus College School earning bronze, and St. Noa from Bukedea also participating in the upcoming FEASSA games in Rwanda later this year.
