Five Eritrean players have disappeared from their hotel in Jinja, Uganda where they were accomodated as they participate in the on-going CECAFA Women’s U20 Championship played at FUFA Technical Centre, Njeru.

The Council of East and Central Africa Football Associations (CECAFA) confirmed this development on Tuesday morning.

“CECAFA has confirmed that five Eritrean players have this morning disappeared from their hotel in Jinja, Uganda,” CECAFA said via a press release on Tuesday.

“The matter has been reported to the Police in Jinja and investigations are on-going. CECAFA, the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) and Police are doing their best to locate the players,” another part of the missive read.

Action of the Championship was set to resume on Wednesday with Matchday three where Eritrea is set to face hosts Uganda as Tanzania play Ethiopia while Burundi take on Djibouti.

It’s now a common thing for players (especially from Africa) to vanish when they travel outside their countries to participate in events. Uganda too has had its share of the same.
