The second round of the Singleton golf Challenge third edition, is underway this Saturday at the par-72 Entebbe Golf Club. The first round saw the exit of holders Sheila Kesiime/Peace Kabasweka after losing to the male pair of Charles Odere/Samuel Kato off a 3/2 in the main championship.

Kesiime/Kabasweka had been dominant before they found resilience in the pair of Odere/Kato. Kesiime/Kabasweka was the first female pair to reach the final and also win the championship when they beat the male pair of Paul Kaheru/Joseph Bagabo in July last year.

Their heroics defied odds and since then, female pairs have given male counter parts hard time.

Last time out, the female pair of Wendy Angudeyo/Doreen Mwesigye beat Elly Mukasa/Kiryowa Kiwanuka 3/1 and now the hunter is being hunted.

There are two pairs of both male and female pairs in the semi-finals this time and the ability of female golfers is under test.

Samuel Kato/Charles Odere will face off with female pair of Martha Babirye/Maureen Okura, who eliminated fellow female pair of Gloria Mbaguta/Evelyn Asiimwe 4/3 last time out.

On the other end, the female pair of Wendy Angudeyo/Doreen Mwesigye will battle it out with the male duo of Ray Mwesige/Ibra Nagalanda, who beat fellow male team of Greg Patterson/Josef Salani 5/4 during the previous round.

The winning pair will win return air tickets to the Dubai Classic series at the end of the year.

In the pro category, the quarter finals feature Herman ‘Deco’ Mutebi, Fred Wanzala, Robert Happy, Abraham Ainamani, Gerald Kabuye, Herman Mutawe, David Kamulindwa and Ronald Rugumayo battling for 50M kitty.
