Uganda will make its historic debut at the inaugural edition of the International School Sport Federation (ISF) World School Golf Championship, set to take place at the prestigious Royal Golf Dar Es Salam course in Rabat, Morocco.
Representing the East African nation are two promising young golfers—Racheal Laura Natukunda from Nyakasura School and Damian Asiimwe of St Julian High School Gayaza. The duo is under the guidance of head coach Isaiah Mwesige, founder of the renowned AFRIYEA Golf Academy in Fort Portal.
The Ugandan contingent, which traveled aboard Qatar Airways via Doha, also includes Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA) president Justus Mugisha and executive committee member Richard Muhumuza.
“We reached safely in Morocco after a good flight. The players are in the best condition and ready to play,” said Muhumuza upon arrival in Rabat.
Coach Mwesige expressed confidence in the team’s readiness: “We traveled well and are set for the official practice round on the golf course. The players are ready for the best showing.”
Over 130 top youth golfers from around the globe are expected to compete in the championship, which features both U-18 and U-15 categories for boys and girls. Uganda’s participation marks a significant milestone in the nation’s school sports development and international representation in golf.
The official practice round, technical meeting, ISF Academy sessions, and opening ceremony are scheduled for Tuesday, July 15, 2025. The championship proper tees off on Wednesday at the lush and challenging Royal Golf Dar Es Salam, one of Africa’s premier golf courses.
