Foreign teams spice up NSSF KAVC International Tournament

The NSSF KAVC International Tournament currently ongoing at the Lugogo sports complex in Kampala attracted a huge cast of foreign volleyball teams across the East African region.

Teams from South Sudan, Rwanda, Burundi and Tanzania are in the mix majorly in the men’s but also women’s categories. Ugandan sides are the majority in the competition.

South Sudan side Cobra made their intent clear when they beat Uganda men’s national league champions OBB 3-1 in the opener on Friday. OBB would later fail to make it out of the group stage of the tournament as they were only three in their group.

The other side in the group was KCCA who however picked a win over Cobra but lost 3-2 against OBB. KCCA also made it out of the group stage because of a better points difference.

However, men’s title holders Homegrown of Kenya didn’t honor this year’s edition. Women’s holders KCB-Nkumba University are in the mix.

Overall, four foreign men’s teams made it out of the group stage whilst two foreign women’s teams made the cut.

However, Saturday is for quarter finals and semi finals action majorly played at the indoor arena.

Sunday is the finale and placement games plus the finals for schools, women’s teams and men’s teams will be held at the indoor stadium.
