The former Executive Committee of the Uganda Netball Federation (UNF) led by its then President Suzan Anek has handed over office to the new leadership led by their President Hon. Sarah Babirye Kityo.

The event took place on Friday, 13th August, 2021 at UNF’s former offices located at Lugogo Sports Complex as the old regime handed all the necessary files the federation needs to run proceedings. However, the new leadership relocated to a new ‘home’ in Old Kampala moments after polls.

Vice President Technical – Richard Muhumuza received the necessary files and the like on behalf of the federation.

National Council of Sports (NCS) oversaw the exercise and were led by the Assistant General Secretary Administration – Kayigwa Tito. Cecilia Anyakoit – Council Member and Chairperson Technical Committee and Nankya Annie, Administrative Secretary, Technical Committee and also in Charge of Netball Affairs at NCS were among individuals who attended the event.

Though she didn’t attend the event, reigning UNF boss Hon. Sarah Babirye Kityo confirmed receipt of the necessary documents.

“We received a handover report from the former executive. I wasn’t around, I didn’t attend because I had a meeting with the speaker of Parliament, we were planning for a partnership between Parliament of Uganda and Uganda Netball Federation,” Kityo told UNF media.

However, Anek’s reign that started in 2007 till recently has been lauded for the great work they did, bringing Netball from 23rd position to 7th in the world and they have been asked to stay in netball circles.

“I’m happy that I will now have to sleep at home comfortably without any worries after having worked tirelessly for the federation in order to keep all its properties safe,” Anek said.

However for UNF, the federation is currently on drawing board working on various aspects of the game, competitive and technical.
