FUFA has cleared all the outstanding arrears from last season’s FUFA Drum tournament, Pepper Sport can confirm. Rogers Byamukama, the FUFA Drum organising committee chairman and also a FUFA Executive member told the media yesterday that the winners, runners up and semi-finalists were cleared on top of the match officials and individual winners. The winners got Shs32m, the Runners up got Shs15m, the losing semi finalists got Shs5m while losing quarter finalists got Shs3m each. “I want to first thank FUFA, the 16 provinces, fans and all the stakeholders for a successfully organized maiden edition last year.  The second edition gets underway this weekend and I want to confirm that we are set. In the review meeting, the FUFA President promised that prize money will be paid before the kickoff of the second edition.  I want to confirm that the money was wired to the different winners,” noted Byamukama, who emphasized that the new playing format will see the top two teams in each of the four groups assemble at one venue from where the champion will be determined. “There is a slight change this season. Unlike the previous edition where we played on home and away basis up to the final, this time round, we shall a different set up after the group stage. The top two teams in each group will converge in one venue and play to determine the champion,” he said. In the same way, no player that played for a certain province last season will be allowed to switch. “A player who featured for one province last season is not allowed to transfer to another. We therefore warn coaches to avoid this,” he said. FUFA will continue to provide transport to the visiting teams, contribute to meals and also offer accommodation to the teams. In some of the changes, Tooro will host their games from St Leos Kyegobe since Buhinga stadium is under construction.
