Two-time champions Kampala University (KU) and Makerere University Business School (MUBS) take face each other this Thursday in the Pepsi University Football League in a game that could determine either side progress from the Group.

MUBS are second on the table with 5 points from 3 games while KU are third with 3 points. A win for MUBS will see stretch the gap between them and KU while a win for KU will see them overtake MUBS into second place.

This is after UCU thumped IUEA 3-0 on Wednesday to stay top with 8 points from 4 games.

It is this fluid situation that has led some UFL followers to call Group D –the group of death, something that MUBS coach Ayiekoh Charles agrees with. “Ours is the most exciting group because after match day 3 three, any one of us can still make it and that’s why ours is the group of death,” Ayiekoh said. “The game is a crucial one more so for Kampala University. If we win, their chances reduce significantly and if they win then the battle for top two increases,” Ayiekoh added. MUBS will be without injured Onegi Borris and Mutyandiru Jim while first choice goalkeeper Senkoto Martin is doubtful. For Kampala University coach Tumusiime Vincent, the game is a must win if they are to keep alive their hopes of qualifying for the knockout stage of the competition. “This is a very critical game for us. We need to win if we are to keep alive our hopes of qualifying for the knockout stage. The boys are well prepared and we have home advantage so I am confident of a win technically and tactically,” said Tumusiime.
