The Federation of Uganda Football Association (FUFA) has confirmed that the Crested Cranes will take part in the 2021 COSAFA Women Challenge Cup.

Uganda will be the guest nation at this year’s edition that will take place in South Africa between September 15-26.

FUFA confirmed the proceedings on Thursday, August 12.

“FUFA confirms that the Uganda Women’s Senior National Team (Crested Cranes) will take part in the COSAFA Women Challenge Cup 2021 slated to take place between 15th – 26th September in Port Elizabeth, South Africa. The draw will take place today at 12:55pm.”

This year’s COSAFA Women Challenge Cup will be used to fine-tune the Crested Cranes 2022 Africa Women’s Cup of Nations that are scheduled to begin in October.

Uganda is slated to face Ethiopia at the first round. The winner of the tie will face either Kenya or South Sudan in the final round.

This will be 9th edition of the Championship, a women’s international football tournament for national teams organised by COSAFA, teams from Southern Africa.

South Africa are the defending champions having defeated Botswana 2-1 in the 2020 final played at the Wolfson Stadium in Ibahyi.
