The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) has extended the deadline for the registration of football academies to February 13, 2026, in a move aimed at strengthening and professionalising youth football development across the country.
The extension is in line with Statutory Instrument (SI) 24 of 2025, which governs the establishment, registration and licensing of sports academies in Uganda. FUFA says the exercise is part of its broader commitment to ensuring structured, safe and well-regulated youth football development.
In a communication dated January 26, 2026, FUFA encouraged all football academy stakeholders to complete and submit the required documentation through the federation’s online registration system. The shift to electronic forms is intended to make the process more efficient and reduce the need for physical visits to FUFA headquarters.
Academies that successfully meet the set requirements and pass inspection will be recommended to the National Council of Sports (NCS) for licensing, as stipulated under Part IX, Regulation 29(2) of SI 24 of 2025.
According to FUFA, the key dates for the registration exercise are:
February 13, 2026 – Application deadline
February 14, 2026 – Inspection of academies
March 13, 2026 – Issuance of FUFA certificates
FUFA has also designated a member of staff to coordinate the process and handle inquiries.
