FUFA sets date for Stanbic Uganda Cup final as semifinal showdowns intensify

The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) has officially announced that the grand finale of the 51st edition of the Stanbic Uganda Cup will be held on Saturday, 31st May 2025. The match is set for a 6:00 PM kickoff under the floodlights at FUFA Stadium – Kadiba in what promises to be a thrilling climax to Uganda’s premier knockout tournament.

In a statement released by the FUFA Competitions Department, the football governing body congratulated the four semifinalists—Kitara FC, Vipers SC, KCCA FC, and Kataka FC—and urged them to make proper preparations for the final stages of the competition. FUFA also indicated that more logistical and organizational details will be communicated following the completion of the semifinal second-leg fixtures.

Defending champions Kitara FC face a tough task after a narrow 1-0 loss to Vipers SC in the first leg, with the decisive return fixture scheduled for Saturday, 17th May at Butema Stadium in Hoima. On the other side of the draw, KCCA FC appear to have one foot in the final, having secured a commanding 3-0 win over Kataka FC, the surprise semifinalists from the FUFA Big League. The second leg will be played in Mbale, with Kataka needing a remarkable turnaround.

Beyond national glory, the Uganda Cup winner will earn qualification for the 2025/26 CAF Confederation Cup, adding continental stakes to the already heated competition. However, if Vipers SC, who have already clinched the StarTimes Uganda Premier League title, also claim the cup, the Confederation Cup slot could be awarded to the league’s second-placed team, depending on CAF regulations.
