‎FUFA strengthens grassroots football development with support to King’s College Budo

‎The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) has reaffirmed its commitment to grassroots football development through a donation of six CAF-approved footballs to King’s College Budo, one of Uganda’s most historic educational institutions.
‎
‎The donation, delivered through the Chairperson of the FUFA Club Licensing Committee, Jeremiah Mugerwa, forms part of FUFA’s broader Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme aimed at promoting football in traditional schools across the country and enhancing opportunities for young talent to thrive.
‎
‎King’s College Budo Head Teacher, Godfrey Kasamba, received the equipment on behalf of the school and welcomed the support, which is expected to boost the school’s football programme and provide student-athletes with access to quality training resources.
‎
‎The gesture reflects FUFA’s continued efforts to strengthen football structures at the grassroots level, recognizing schools as critical pillars in identifying, nurturing, and developing future football stars. By investing in educational institutions, the federation hopes to create an enabling environment where young players can refine their skills while pursuing their academic ambitions.

‎FUFA has in recent years intensified initiatives targeting school football, with the FUFA TV Cup emerging as one of the flagship competitions designed to provide a competitive platform for secondary schools across Uganda. The tournament has become an important pathway for talent identification, allowing young players to showcase their abilities before scouts, coaches, and clubs from various levels of the football pyramid.

‎King’s College Budo is among the schools that have already benefited from the opportunities presented by the competition. One notable success story is that of S.6 student Lagoro Jimmy, who earned a move to Express FC in the Uganda Premier League after impressing through the school football system.

‎His progression from school football to one of Uganda’s most recognized clubs highlights the growing impact of the FUFA TV Cup and similar development initiatives in bridging the gap between youth football and the professional game.
‎
FUFA says it remains committed to football development at all levels, from grassroots and school competitions to elite football. Through continued stakeholder engagement and strategic support to institutions such as King’s College Budo, the federation hopes to strengthen the foundation of the sport and create more opportunities for talented young players across the country.
