The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) has announced that Executive Committee Member Ronnie Kalema will participate in the International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) in the United States, a high-level benchmarking initiative focused on organizing mega sporting events and FIFA World Cup 2026 venues.
Running from February 28 to March 22, 2026, the programme, themed “Mega Sporting Events and Economic Prosperity II”, will provide Mr Kalema, who also serves as FUFA Executive Secretary for Football Development and Chairperson of the AFCON 2027 Event Operations Sub-Committee, with hands-on exposure to stadium infrastructure, operational systems, governance models, safety protocols, commercial structures, and legacy planning associated with global football events.
The invitation is a strong endorsement of FUFA’s growing international reputation in football development and event management. It is also seen as a vote of confidence in Uganda’s preparations to co-host AFCON 2027.
Speaking ahead of his trip, Mr Kalema emphasized that the insights gained from the programme will directly inform Uganda’s planning models, competition logistics, stadium management systems, and long-term legacy strategies, ultimately strengthening FUFA’s capacity to deliver world-class events.
