Richard Lutwana and Robert Busingye won the male Singleton Match Play Challenge title as the third edition came to an end on Saturday at the Entebbe Golf Club.
Lutwama/Busingye beat Andrew Atuhaire and Geofrey Orach pair through first sudden-death playoff hole after tying at the 18th hole. Lutwama scored a par while Atuhaire and Orach had bogeys which sealed their fate.
Lutwama and Busingye beat Charles Odere and Samuel Kato 1-up at the semi finals through sudden-death play-off while Geoffrey Orach and Andrew Atuhaire beat Ssuubi Kiwanuka and Tim Mwanda 4/3 (4-up with three holes to go).
“I have enjoyed this season more so because of the positive. I want to thank my partner (Robert) for the wonderful shots,” Lutwama noted.
The victorious pair landed an-all expenses paid trip to the Omega Dubai Desert Classic due January 2020, one of the prestigious golf tournaments in the Middle East which has also featured top players like Tiger Woods.
Runners up Atuhaire/Orach won return tickets to Mombasa and accommodation for two each courtesy of RwandAir and Serena Beach Resort.
Second and third runners ups, Odere/Kato and Kiwanuka/Mwanda won return tickets to London and Cape Town respectively.
Abraham Ainemani won the professionals category after beating Herman Mutaawe 9&7. Ainemani won 15m shillings. Ronald Rugumayo beat Herman Mutebi ‘Deco’ 1up in the pros third-place playoff.
This year’s hole-in-one prize, a brand new sh235 Pajero Sport car was not won at the tournament sponsored by Victoria Motors, CBA, Afrisafe Risk Partners, Serena Hotel, DStv, RwandAir, Pinnacle Security, Ekspreso, HTC and Street Club with Singleton Whiskey as the main sponsors.
