In a remarkable tale of determination and talent, Lagoro Jimmy, a young footballer from Kitgum, Northern Uganda, has officially joined Uganda Premier League side Express FC.
Lagoro’s football journey began in Kitgum and flourished at King’s College Budo, an institution renowned for balancing academics and sports.
At Budo, Lagoro not only excelled in his studies, completing Senior 4 in 2024, but also stood out as a dynamic winger on the football field.
FUFA TV Cup: A gateway to greatness
Lagoro’s breakthrough came through the FUFA TV Cup, an initiative by the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) that has been instrumental in discovering Uganda’s football talent.
The 2024 tournament featured fierce competition, culminating in Nabumali High School’s victory over Nganwa High School.
These tournaments serve as a bridge, connecting grassroots talent to professional opportunities, with scouts from top clubs keeping a keen eye on emerging stars.
Lagoro’s exceptional performance in the FUFA TV Cup captured the attention of Express FC scouts, securing him a spot on the team.
Express FC, known for its commitment to nurturing young talent, has been actively strengthening its squad for the 2024/2025 season, alongside improving their stadium to enhance the fan experience.
