Event: Guinness 7s
Dates: 6th and 7th November 2021
Venue: Kings Park, Bweyogerere

For the first time in the Guinness 7s, Heathens reached the final of the series during the previous (third) circuit held in Soroti City last month. They beat Black Pirates 10-05 in the semis before losing 14-00 to Kobs in the final.

In the fourth circuit of the series dubbed Rujumba 7s slated for Saturday, 6th and Sunday, 7th at Kings Park in Bweyogerere, Kampala, Heathens are eager to not just reach the podium but also hoist the circuit title and claim UGX500,000 that comes with it.

Fresh from the Safari 7s where he finished as top points scorer, Heathens star Aaron Ofoywroth is confident that his side can finish atop if they play their way.

“Heathens is a good team, we just need to be composed in order to win circuits. I believe we shall win one of the remaining circuits,” Ofoywroth said.

“We also need to put in a good shift and fully focus on the game. Personally I’m ready for this weekend’s circuit and I’m hoping that we emerge victorious,” Ofoywroth added.

Heathens are seeded in Pool B with Mongers, Rhinos and Entebbe Jaguars.

Buffaloes, Impis, Stallions and Eagles are in Pool D whilst circuit hosts Black Pirates are in Pool C alongside their development side Sailors. Warriors and second tier side Pacers are in the same group.

Table leaders Kobs are in Pool A. Jinja Hippos, Rams and their development side Rams 2 are in the same pool.

However, with three out of six circuits of the Guinness 7s played, Kobs lead the table with 66 points, 11 ahead of second placed Black Pirates and 13 ahead of third placed Heathens. Kobs are also unbeaten in all the stages of the circuits of the series, subjecting everyone to a bridesmaids role as they continue to Shine Brightest in each and every outing.

However, home side Pirates will seek for an absolution in their own backyard after losing in the finals of the opening two circuits to Kobs, who will instead want to put one hand on the title.

After the Bweyogerere do, teams will brave for high altitude rugby when embark on a sojourn to Kabale for the fifth circuit of the campaign.
