Heathens RFC will on Saturday wear their new kit for the first time when they host Stanbic Black Pirates in a matchday eight Nile Special Rugby Premier League clash at Kyadondo Rugby Club in Kampala.
The official kit was unveiled on Thursday at Kyadondo with Platinum Credit Limited who are the club’s partner. The company’s name is emblazoned in the right hand of the jersey.
The kit comes in a yellow colour with a few patches of deep blue and the shorts are blue whilst the socks are plain yellow. The new jersey design has features that are a symbol of pillars and identity of the club. The former kit comprised of green and black colours.
Kyadondo Rugby Club Chairman Brian Tabaruka is happy to see the team regain it’s initial colours and believes that the sky is the limit for the side.
“Heathens are a great team and as you can see they currently lead in the league. We are proud of them and are confident that their performance will always be top notch,” Tabaruka noted.
Jonathan Kiggundu who’s the Marketing Manager Platinum Credit revealed that they too pride in this development adding that rugby as a whole impacts lives of the young people engaged in it.
Recently dubbed the ‘yellow machine,’ Heathens will seek to maintain their unbeaten league run against a Pirates side who are the only other perfect side in the 2022 men’s top tier division.
Club veteran Michael Wokorach is upbeat that his side will put in a good shift but has urged the charges not to be complement.
“Our main target this season is to win games with bonus points. However, this league is tough and the game against Pirates will equally be tough and the players know about it. However, we’re in great shape and are confident of winning it,” Wokorach said after the kit unveiling.
Heathens are atop the table with 34 points, just a point above second placed Pirates.
Other league fixtures scheduled for Saturday are; Kobs vs Rhinos at Legens Grounds, Warriors vs Buffaloes at Legends, Rams vs Hippos at Makerere Graveyard and Impis vs Mongers at Makerere.
