The fifth outing of the national Shell-Advance motocross championship gave revelers worth of their money last Sunday at Busiika race track.

The 5th round that saw all riders provided with fuel and oils by Shell-Uganda was also used to select riders (top performers) for this year’s FIM Africa nations of motocross championship in Zimbabwe due August 30-September 1.

The MX125cc category brought the best of action as Brothers Ali Omar and Wazir Omar jointly plotted Fortune Sentamu’s shortfall in what looked to be a team’s game plan perfectly executed.

Ali missed the opening two rounds of the season, and thus has faint chances of winning the MX125cc category title while Wazir has better chances to to beat closest challenger Sentamu for the crown.

On Sunday, Ali set a high pace as he battled Sentamu at a high speed. He however trimmed down the speed in the final two heats which gave Sentamu room for complacency as he took Ali’s speed on his faulty bike.

It is at this point that Wazir upped his speed and overtook the two and Ali continued to cause mistakes for the favorite Sentamu, whose bike broke down in training and the replacement also proved faulty.

Ali Omar Wazir came top with 60 points, Ali Omar Yasser had 51 in second while Sam Foreman came third with 43 points.

Sharifah Katete and Fortune Sentamu came 4th and 5th with 35 and 28 points respectively. Two more rounds are  left to crown the season champions ans Shell-Uganda will sponsor the riders in both rounds with fuel and oil.

Meanwhile, Asaf Natal beat Maxim Van Pee to the MX1 category after the champion’s KTM bike broke down in the first heat to change to Husquarvana.
