Betway Kobs are set to claim the 2019 Roke Telkom national 7s when season hits the climax with the Edward Kitaka memorial circuit this Saturday at the Legends Grounds in Kampala.

Going into the final circuit, the 2017 champions need only 16 points from the possible 22 to be crowned champions –something achievable with a top three finish.

The Betway sponsored Kobs have faced title holders Stanbic Black Pirates in every circuit final and out of six, Kobs have won four and are six points clear on top of the table with 132 points while Pirates who have won two circuits are second.

Betway Kobs put one hand on the title last weekend with a 28-19 win over Pirates in the Jinja circuit hosted by Hippos football rugby club, thanks to tries from Robert Okeny, Adrian Kasito and Pius Ogena.

Whereas Pirates skipper Ivan Magomu’s stil have belief, Betway Kobs’ Joseph Aredo is adamant there is no letting the title out of their hands. “We have a hand on the title and we must do our best to win it. It will be tough but we are ready,” Aredo noted.

Betway Kobs won last year’s series grand finale at Kyadondo dubbed the Guinness Floodlights 7s by beatingRams 21-05 in the final having earlier beaten Pirates 07-24 at the semi-finals.

However, Pirates went ahead to claim the overall title with 153 points as Betway Kobs finished runners up with 139 points.
