It’s Game Time: Non-Stop League Action on SuperSport via DStv & GOtv

SuperSport on DStv and GOtv continues to bring you the best football in the world, with cracking action from the Premier League, La Liga and Serie A lighting up your screens from Friday 19 to Monday 22 September. Here’s what you can look forward to from your home of football. It’s On—and it’s all live on SuperSport, available on DStv and GOtv.

La Liga Matchday 5 kicks off with a fascinating clash as Real Betis host Real Sociedad in a battle between two sides eyeing European qualification. Betis come into the fixture buoyed by their attacking trio starting to click, with Antony beginning to justify the investment. Real Sociedad, however, arrive with ambitions to win in Seville. Though historically Sociedad have edged this fixture, Betis have had the upper hand in recent meetings, including a dominant 3-0 home win the last time they met. With both sides battling for top-six status, the stakes are high and margins likely to be fine.

Real Madrid, meanwhile, are expected to assert their dominance at home against Espanyol. While no fresh injury news has emerged, Madrid will look to rotate smartly following European midweek action, with Jude Bellingham and Vinicius Jr. continuing to lead the charge in attack. Espanyol have improved tactically since their return to La Liga but may struggle to contain a Madrid side that has been ruthless at the Bernabéu.

Further down the table, Valencia take on Athletic Bilbao in a matchup between two of Spain’s most historic clubs. Athletic’s structured approach and superior midfield quality could give them the edge, but Valencia’s home form and youthful energy make them dangerous. It promises to be a tactical affair, likely decided by small moments.

SuperSport’s pre-match analysis, range of camera angles, post-match banter, talk shows, and world-class commentary means you will squeeze every drop of enjoyment out of your football viewing!

On Sunday, Barcelona host Getafe, with Hansi Flick’s men expected to take all three points despite lingering injury concerns to several key players. Getafe will likely sit deep and frustrate, but with Marcus Rashford, Lamine Yamal and Robert Lewandowski showing promising link-up play, Barça should have the firepower to break through.

The Premier League offers its own set of headline fixtures, starting with the Merseyside Derby between Liverpool and Everton at Anfield. Arne Slot’s Liverpool are evolving into one of Europe’s most feared attacking sides, with new additions like Alexander Isak and Florian Wirtz slotting in seamlessly alongside Mohamed Salah and Cody Gakpo.

Michael Owen recently called this front line “the most formidable in world football,” and it’s hard to argue given their recent form. Everton, meanwhile, are showing signs of stability under David Moyes, but they remain clear underdogs.

Manchester United vs Chelsea brings together two sides in transition but with plenty of attacking firepower. United’s form at Old Trafford could be key, though Chelsea’s pace in transition might catch them off guard.

But the main event comes on Sunday as Arsenal face Manchester City at the Emirates. Mikel Arteta’s side, still pushing for a breakthrough campaign, must find a way past Pep Guardiola’s well-oiled machine. Expect a high-quality tactical battle, potentially season-defining even at this early stage.

Over in Serie A, all eyes are on the Derby della Capitale as Lazio face Roma. These games are rarely short on drama, and with both clubs neck-and-neck in the table, tensions will be high. Lazio’s disciplined, counter-punching style will be tested by Roma’s flair and attacking ambition.

Inter Milan, leading the table, host Sassuolo in a match they’ll be expected to win, though Sassuolo’s unpredictability has caused problems for the giants in the past. Napoli round out the weekend with a home fixture against Parma. The reigning champions should have too much quality, but with fixture congestion building, rotation may be key.

Across all three leagues, it’s a weekend brimming with rivalry, tactical battles, and serious implications for the title races and European spots.
