The Uganda Cranes are gearing up for their Total Energies CHAN 2025 Qualifiers with two crucial fixtures against Burundi. The first leg is scheduled for Thursday, December 26, 2024, at the Hamz Stadium in Nakivubo at 6 PM, followed by the return leg on Sunday, December 29, 2024, also at 6 PM.
On Tuesday, the CHAN team wrapped up their final non-residential training session at the MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo. The squad will transition into residential camp at Nob View Hotel starting Wednesday, December 25, 2024.
Forward Ivan Ahimbisibwe, one of the key players in the squad, expressed his excitement about the opportunity to represent Uganda.
“It’s been a long-awaited opportunity, and there are smiles all around as we focus on the tasks ahead. We’re playing Burundi, and we are well-prepared. By following the instructions from the coaches and working as a team, we are confident of achieving the best results,” Ahimbisibwe shared.
He acknowledged the intense competition within the squad, stating, “The competition for positions is tough because everyone wants to impress the coach. As an individual, I’m doing my best to be considered for the final squad. As a team, everyone is giving their all to ensure we achieve the best results.”
Ahimbisibwe also emphasized the significance of Uganda hosting CHAN, calling it a golden opportunity for the country and the players to shine on a continental platform.
