The Uganda Ludo federation (ULF) President Hussein Kalule is vying to become the next International Ludo Federation (ILF) Vice President in the Federation’s forthcoming elections due late next month in India. Kalule, who takes on two other candidates; Taiq Javed from Pakistan and Joe Matheta from South Africa, will have to convince 25 member countries to vote for him.

Champions Yesu Amala celebrate victory

Africa is only represented by three countries; Uganda, South Africa and Malawi.

“I am talking to several counties and have got a good number on my side. We locally introduced time duration for matches and proposed them at the international level. This has sold Uganda much in this game. Locally, the game goes for 75 minutes maximum unlike internationally where there is no time duration till the winner is found. Our proposal to have time frame in international games could be  passed into the international competition regulations,” Kalule told Pepper Sport on Friday during the finals of ‘Boda Beramu’ Ludo gala at St Augustine school grounds, Wakiso.

The one-day competition was organized by (ULF) with support from Public Health Ambassadors Uganda (PHAU), who carried out free HIV/Aids testing and counseling to Ludo players, eye check-ups, safe male circumcision and blood donation.

Kalule (R) rewards winners on Saturday

Over 25 teams made up of mainly Bodaboda riders at different stages in Wakiso took part in the competition with Yesu Amala Bodaboda stage team coming on top to win a Ludo playing board, trophy and fuel voucher. ULF signed a five-month partnership with PHAU to sensitize Ludo players about HIV/Aids in the five divisions of Kampala and Wakiso district, according to John Musinguzi, the PHAU partnerships and Communications Officer .
