Kampala Hockey Club (KHC) has officially launched a two-year Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) partnership with the Uganda Child Cancer Foundation (UCCF), marking a significant step in the club’s efforts to extend its impact beyond sport and into community health and social welfare.
The partnership was unveiled at the Uganda Cancer Institute, where representatives from both organizations, healthcare professionals, club members, and supporters gathered to affirm their shared commitment to supporting children undergoing cancer treatment in Uganda.
Under the agreement, Kampala Hockey Club and the Uganda Child Cancer Foundation will collaborate on initiatives focused on childhood cancer awareness, advocacy, and direct support for young patients and their families. The partnership is expected to run initially for two years, with activities integrated into KHC’s sporting and community engagement calendar.
Speaking at the launch, Kampala Hockey Club officials emphasized the role of sport as a platform for social responsibility. The club plans to actively involve its players, fans, and partners in fundraising drives, hospital visits, and awareness campaigns aimed at mobilizing resources and strengthening public understanding of childhood cancer.
The Uganda Child Cancer Foundation welcomed the partnership, noting that collaboration with sports organizations is vital in expanding outreach and community support. UCCF officials highlighted that the two-year partnership will contribute to improved care, increased awareness, and better outcomes for children receiving treatment at the Uganda Cancer Institute.
Both organizations expressed optimism that the collaboration will not only grow in scope but also inspire other sports clubs and institutions to engage in meaningful social impact initiatives.
The launch event concluded with the formal signing of the partnership agreement. Kampala Hockey Club was represented by its Chairman, Richard Ssemwogerere, while the Uganda Child Cancer Foundation was represented by its Executive Director, Moses Echodu.
