After staging a successful football tournament, Rubaga North Lord Councilor Abubaker Kawalya has found himself falling deeper in love with sports.
The ongoing 3rd edition of Abubaker Kawalya football and netball tournament is played in the parishes of Rubaga north constituency including; Lubya, Kasubi, Nankulabye, Bakuli-Namirembe and Lungujja. Many talents have been exposed through this tournament. The youthful Kawalya, who is eyeing the Rubaga North constituency seat to unseat Hon. Moses Kasibante has joined National beach soccer league side Sand Lions as the new chairman and chief financier.
“We have finalized everything and he is part of us. We changed the administration, the name of the club and some other things and we are waiting for FUFA to approve,” confirmed Ssemwogerere Mukiibi, the club Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
If FUFA approves change of name, the club that kicked off the 2019/20 season on Sunday against Mutoola beach in the second last fixture of the day, will with immediate effect be referred to as Rubaga North Sand Lions.
