Sunday results

Kampala Queens 0-1 Kawempe Muslim

Olila High School 2-0 She Corporate

Uganda Martyrs H/S 2-0 Lady Doves

UCU Lady Cardinals vs Muteesa I Royal University (Not Played)

Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC continued with their perfect start to the 2019/20 FUFA Women super league season after overcoming Kampala Queens on Sunday in Kabojja. A closely contested affair that involved two national team coaches in Faridah Bulega (Crested Cranes) and Ayub Khalifa (U-17 Women team) saw the latter coming out victorious.

Despite missing prolific striker Juliet Nalukenge through injury, Kawempe Muslim fought hard to win 1-0 thanks to Anita Namata’s second half strike. The diminutive winger capitalised on Kampala Queens lapse in defence to slot past onrushing goalkeeper Lydia Adubango. Fauzia Najjemba nearly salvaged a point for Kampala Queens late in the game but her powerful header was cleared off the goal line by defender Samalie Nakachwa.

The result meas that unbeaten Kawempe Muslim moved to the summit with 15 points after five games and they remain the only team yet to concede a goal this season. Elsewhere, Lady Doves who went into the weekend on top of the table with 13 points were condemned to their first loss this season after falling to Uganda Martyrs 2-0 in the game played at St. Gerald’s stadium in Rubaga.

Striker Latifa Nakasi who is playing in her debut top tier season netted a second half brace to take her season goal tally to four. Lady Doves who play Kawempe Muslim next dropped to second place while Uganda Martyrs on the other hand moved to third place on 10 points. She Corporate suffered a 2-0 loss to Olila High School in Soroti.

This was Olila’s first victory after losing all the previous four games. Ceclia Apiding and Siporosa Amoding scored a goal each to guide Olila to victory. The game between UCU Lady Cardinals and Muteesa I Royal University was not played with the latter failing to avail licensed players.

This is the third game that Muteesa have failed to play this season. The FUFA Competitions Department will make a ruling on the matter, bearing in mind that if a team misses three games, they are demoted to the lower divisions.
