Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC were crowned champions of the 2025/26 Finance Trust Bank FUFA Women Super League following a dramatic final day that saw the title race decided in the closing stages of the season.
The championship battle went down to the wire with simultaneous fixtures played at the FUFA Technical Centre in Njeru and Kawempe Muslim Secondary School Ground on Saturday.
League leaders She Corporate FC needed victory to secure the title but were held to a goalless draw by She Maroons FC at the FUFA Technical Centre, Njeru.
At Kawempe, the hosts delivered when it mattered most, defeating Olila High School WFC 3-1 in front of their home fans.
Goals from Jovia Nakagolo, Agnes Nabukenya and Latifah Nakasi sealed the crucial victory for Kawempe Muslim Ladies, while Mary Lotyang scored the consolation for Olila High School WFC.
The win, coupled with She Corporate’s slip-up, saw Kawempe Muslim finish top of the table with 52 points, one ahead of She Corporate who ended the season on 51 points.
Kawempe Muslim’s triumph capped a remarkable and consistent campaign in which they also finished the first round at the summit with 28 points. Their dominance over closest rivals She Corporate was further highlighted by completing a league double after winning both home and away meetings during the season.
This is the sixth league title in the club’s history and their second since the competition was rebranded as the FUFA Women Super League in 2019.
The trophy handover ceremony was presided over by Dr. Azah Taibu alongside FUFA Executive Committee Member Rogers Mulindwa, Deputy Head Teacher of Kawempe Muslim Secondary School Ahmed Ssengoba, and Finance Trust Bank Head of Marketing and Corporate Affairs Percy Lubega.
In a symbolic moment during the celebrations, three-time league champion Nazizi Florence delivered the trophy to the podium ahead of the official crowning ceremony.
Kawempe Muslim Ladies will now represent Uganda at the CECAFA Qualifiers for the CAF Women’s Champions League scheduled for September this year.
