Kampala International University (KIU) travel to Kumi University this Wednesday for their Match Day IV of 2019 Pepsi University Football League group C. KIU are at bottom of the table with 1 point from 3 games but are hopeful that they can still qualify for the knockout stage with victory in their remaining three games. “We are down but not out. If we win at least two of our next three games, we stand a good chance,” KIU coach Akabwai Geoffrey said. “We lost narrowly to Kumi due to some mistakes at the back line. The defenders and goalkeeper weren’t at their best on that day. But we have worked on this and I know we have a good chance of beating them,” he added. For Kumi University coach Ojede Morris, the game against KIU is a crucial one. “This is a very important game for us. A win will take us top of the table and boost our chances of making it to the knockout stage for the first time,” Ojede said. Kumi are second on log with 4 points from 3 games, one point below leaders and reigning champions Kyambogo while winless KIU are bottom with just a point from similar number of games. Busitema are third with 3 points. The Pepsi-sponsored league continues this Thursday with YMCA hosting Bugema.
