Lady Cricket Cranes (Uganda women’s senior cricket team) provisional squad of 20 players have entered a residential training camp at Hawaii Resort in Kawuku, Entebbe ahead of the Global World Cup Qualifiers.

The team will be camped at the resort until they leave for the tournament scheduled for September 7th to 20th in Gaborone, Botswana.

In Gaborone, Uganda will battle 10 other teams for the single African slot to the next round.

A squad of 24 started preparations two weeks ago and were reduced to 20 to continue practise with the final 14 expected to be announced before departure.

Lady Cricket Cranes Head Coach Suraj Karavadra says that they will maximize their time in camp to put up a good show in Gaborone.

“We shall use the three weeks to get the girls playing together and use more of the centre wicket. We have our sports phycologist (Edgar Kazibwe) with us for this period and it will be important that we keep the whole group in a good space before we travel to Botswana,” Karavadra told the team’s media team.

The residential camp is meant to protect the players and officials from any Covid-19 infections that could result into the team missing the tournament.
