Lady Doves overcame UCU Lady Cardinals 2-1 in the final of the 2020/21 FUFA Women Super League final played on Wednesday at Njeru.

Elizabeth Nakigozi opened the scoring on the day on 20 minutes to put Lady Doves in the lead.

UCU responded through Sandra Kisakye’s header with 75 minutes to play.

With just six minutes on the clock, Fazila Ikwaput who had replaced Joweria Nagadya moments earlier, scored the winning goal.

Ikwaput’s goal was her eight of the tournament, ensuring she finished top scorer of the tournament.

Victory for Lady Doves is a revenge of sorts after they lost to UCU in the 2018/19 final played at Lugogo.

It was also the second time they had defeated UCU this season, having won their group contest by the same score line.

This year’s league was delayed due to COVID-19 and it took place over 12 months after least year’s was nullified.

It was shortened and played in a tournament format with all games taking place in Njeru.
