South Africa vs Madagascar

Following a humiliating 89-05 loss to South Africa Women Springboks in the opener on Saturday, the Uganda Lady Cranes get back to action this Tuesday as they take on Kenya Lionesses in a crunch East African derby at the Bosman stadium, Johannesburg.

In the loss against the hosts, Samiya Ayikoru scored Uganda’s only try but the Uganda side hope to better perform at the tournament that also doubles as the 2021 Women’s World Cup qualifier.

As Uganda seek to revenge against this year’s Elgon Cup defeat recently, South Africa target take on Madagascar Makis in the other battle. Lady Cranes lost the 2019 Elgon Cup 19-17 to Kenya on aggregate after two legs as both sides prepared for the South Africa showpiece.

Like South Africa, Lady Cranes Coach Edgar Lemerigar is equally worried of Kenya Lionesses.  He said that his charges might have been overwhelmed and frightened in their opening game which put them under pressure.

Kenya Lionesses beat Madagascar Makis 35-05 in their opener with Celestine Masinde, Janet Okelo, Philadelphia Orlando, Diana Awino, Christabel Lindo all scoring the white wash.

Kenya captain Philadelphia Orlando wants her side to work on how they start their matches ahead of next game.
