Lugazi FC celebrated a milestone on Wednesday after scoring their first-ever Uganda Premier League goal in a 1-1 draw with Mbale Heroes at Lugazi Stadium, Najjembe.
Derrick Mwanje, donning the number 8 shirt, rose to the occasion in the 38th minute with a perfectly executed header that leveled the match.
The visitors, under head coach Asaph Mwebaze, had taken an early lead in the 10th minute when Gideon Etou pounced on a fumble from the Lugazi goalkeeper, scoring from a headed effort.
Despite some spirited play from both sides, neither team managed to break the deadlock for the remainder of the game, and the match ended with the two clubs sharing points.
The result sees Lugazi remain at the bottom of the table with just two points, level with BUL FC and Bright Stars, who also find themselves in the relegation zone.
Mbale Heroes, meanwhile, move to four points, climbing to 12th place as they secured their first away point of the season.
Next up for Lugazi FC is an away trip to face Express FC, who recently drew 2-2 with Police FC, while Mbale Heroes will take on table-toppers KCCA FC at home.
