KCCA FC 1-1 Express FC
MTN Omondi Stadium

KCCA FC goalkeeper conceded a stupid penalty to ensure Express FC eliminated his side from the Uganda Cup on Friday.

The custodian elbowed Express attacker Charles Musiige in the area with just seven minutes to play, a move that saw the Red Eagles awarded a penalty that levelled matter on the day at 1-1.

Martin Kizza slotted hole the resultant kick to cancel out Sadat Anaku’s early goal which looked like it was all that KCCA needed to storm the last four.

In a match where Express lacked inspiration, KCCA took the lead in the 42nd minute through striker Sadat Anaku whose brilliant curler, after he was set up by Ashraf Mugume, beat the out-stretched hands of goalkeeper Dennis Otim.

Express came into the encounter without forwards Erick Kambale and Frank Kalanda while Godfrey Lwesibawa beat a late fitness test to feature.

The match defining moment came in the 83rd minute when Lukwago saved Lwesibawa’s tame shot only to elbow Musiige seconds later.

Referee Ali Kaddu awarded Express a penalty and booked the Uganda Cranes goalkeeper. Kizza converted the resultant penalty and sent the Red Eagles to the semi finals stage.

Express joined Vipers, BUL FC and Wakiso Giants who are the other three semi finalists.
